Privacy Policy
MyKaab is operated by Triax Technology in Nigeria, in partnership with AUATON. This policy covers the MyKaab Rider app, the MyKaab Driver app and this website. It says what we collect, why we need it, who else sees it, and how to make us delete it.

What we collect
Only what a ride-hailing service cannot run without.
Everyone
- Your name, phone number and email address.
- Your profile photograph, so the other person in the car can recognise you.
- Your device type and a push notification token, so we can reach you about a trip.
- Trips you take: pickup, destination, route, times, fare and who you travelled with.
- Messages you send through in-app chat.
Location
- Riders: your location when you open the app, to set pickup and show nearby drivers.
- Drivers: your precise location continuously while you are online. It stops when you go offline, and a notification stays on screen the whole time it is running.
Drivers only
- Your National Identification Number, to verify you are who you say. It is encrypted before it is stored and is never shown back in full.
- Driving licence, vehicle papers and other documents you upload for approval.
- Vehicle details: registration mark, make, model, year, colour, chassis and engine numbers.
- Bank account details, so earnings can be paid out to you.
Money
- Wallet balance and every transaction: top-ups, fares, subscription charges, insurance premiums and withdrawals.
- We never see or store your full card number. Payments are handled by our payment partners.
Safety features
- Audio recorded during a trip, but only when one of you starts a recording — and the other person is told the moment it begins.
- Calls between rider and driver are placed through a masked number. We keep who called whom, when, and for how long. We do not record them.
- Emergency contacts you choose to add.
Why we collect it
- To match you with a driver or a rider and get you where you are going.
- To calculate and settle fares, and to run your wallet.
- To verify drivers, their vehicles and their insurance, which is what makes the platform safe to use.
- To let you share a trip so somebody can see you arrive.
- To investigate incidents, disputes and fraud.
- To meet Nigerian legal and regulatory obligations, including those of our insurance and banking partners.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.
Who else sees it
Only to the extent each one needs, and only to deliver the service.
- The other person on your trip. A driver sees a rider’s first name, photograph and pickup. A rider sees a driver’s name, photograph, rating, vehicle and registration mark.
- Anyone you share a trip with. A share link shows the driver, the vehicle, the registration mark, the route and the car’s position. It never shows a phone number or a fare, and it stops working when the trip ends, after twelve hours, or when you turn it off.
- Payment and banking partners — Embedly (Sterling Bank) and ALATPay — to open wallets, receive transfers and pay out withdrawals.
- Insurers — NPF Insurance — to issue a policy, where a driver buys one. They receive the policyholder’s name, phone, address and vehicle details.
- Identity verification — NIMC — to confirm a driver’s National Identification Number.
- Technology providers — Google (maps and routing), Firebase (push notifications), Twilio (masked calls), ZeptoMail (email).
- AUATON, our union partner, for driver membership and standing.
- Law enforcement and regulators, where we are legally required to, or where someone’s safety is at risk.
How long we keep it
- Your account and profile: while your account is open.
- Trips, fares and wallet transactions: seven years after the trip, because financial and tax records must be kept.
- Driver documents and identity records: for as long as you drive, and seven years afterwards.
- Trip recordings: ninety days, unless they are part of an open incident or dispute.
- Location history: twelve months.
Your rights
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act you can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to how we use it.
- Most of your details can be changed in the app under your profile.
- To delete your account, follow the steps on our account deletion page.
- For anything else, email us and we will respond within 30 days.
Some records we cannot delete on request: financial transactions, and records tied to an insurance policy or an open investigation, must be kept for the periods above.
How it is protected
- Everything travels over encrypted connections.
- National Identification Numbers are encrypted before they are stored.
- Access to personal data inside MyKaab is limited by role and written to an audit trail.
- Passwords are hashed, never stored in a form anyone can read.
Children
MyKaab is not for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has an account, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top, and tell you in the app where the change is significant.
